This is from the stela (upright stone slab) of 18 Rabbit, who’s actual name is Waxaklajuun Ub'aah K'awiil. His real name translates roughly as "Eighteen are the Bodies of K'awiil”. K'awiil is a title associated with divine rule.

18-Rabbit was the Ajaw (Lord) of what is known today as Copan, known in ancient times as Xukpi.

He reigned from the year 695 c.e. until his death in May 3, 738. He left an artistic and architectural legacy that some consider the most beautiful and intricate in the Maya world.
