Ceremonial bar — also known as serpent bars — are a common symbol in the ancient Maya Classic period and often depicted being held in the arms of a specific Ajaw (Lord)ondifferent monuments. Such as stelae, these monuments were typically erected to commemorate a period-ending event (when the Maya base-20 long-count calendar zeroed out), commonly associated with change or rebirth.

Also inspired from a “Vision Serpent”. A serpent would arise from the smoke of the fire of a ceremonial offering and from its mouth an ancestral spirit would appear, as depicted on the famous reliefs from the ancient city Yaxchilan.
