The real hidden faces of “Latin America” are African and Indigenous.

As a matter of fact the most popular components of “Latinx” culture come from both of these groups of people. The Music, the Food, and different traditions to name a few are heavily influenced by African and Indigenous culture.

In most of “Latin America”, both of these cultures mix and create significant cultural elements of that particular country.

Yet very rarely are African and Indigenous people showcased in popular media. We tend to see mostly lighter and whiter looking people being representatives of “Latinx” culture.

“ Corazón de Abiayala”

Abiayala in the Kuna language means `land in its full maturity` or `land of vital blood`, is the name used by the indigenous Panamanian Kuna people to refer to the American continent since before the Columbus arrival.
