According to the Maya and most Meso-American cultures , almost everything can be traced back to corn. This includes the start of humanity. In the sacred text of the Popol Vuh, the first corn gives rise to humanity. Corn, or Ixim ( Maya word for corn) was what the first grandfathers and grandmothers made humans from.
